Funding for the PredMed webpage and database has been received from the MINECO/FEDER/UE, grant ref. no. FI2015-63659-C2-2-P, for the project “Estudios interdisciplinarios y comparativos sobre identidades religiosas, (trans)culturales y de género en la Península Ibérica y el Mediterráneo medieval y moderno” (2015-2018), and from the FEDER/MICIU/AEI project PGC2018-093472-B-C32: “Writing Religious, Transcultural, Gendered Identities and Alterities in the Medieval and Early Modern Mediterranean” (2018-2022)
PREDMED aims to focus on the following research lines:
Fields shared by the three main religions:
- Research and publishing of unpublished sermons and little known preachers.
- Preaching and cultural studies in Judaism, Islam and Christianity.
One of the main goals of PREDMED is to broaden the interdisciplinary nature of Sermon studies. The following research fields are suggested:
History:
- Sermons as a source for the study of Medieval societies and multiculturalism.
- The role of sermons in polemics.
- Non doctrinal sermons: political sermons, crusade sermons…
Philology:
- Sermons as a source of study for the evolution of languages and orality.
- Philological aproaches to the study of sermons.
Literature:
- Relations between sermons and the evolution of literature genres: tales, theatre…
Art:
- Relation between art and preaching.
Gender studies:
- Gender policies and strategies in sermons.
