(1060-1137) Bishop Oleguer of Barcelona preached the Crusade against the Hispanic Muslim Kingdoms in Southern France. Well-known by his sermons, he died after a sermon delivered in the Council of Barcelona.
As a prior in Saint-Ruf he promoted the reform of the Agustinian convents of the Canons regular of Saint Rufus, that played an important role in the development of preaching in the 13th century.
The Vita Olegrii informs us of his sermons:
Verbis caelestibus instruebat clerum et populum suum: ostendebat viam ad patriam: praedicabat hunc mundum non esse patriam, sed exilium: praesignando gradus virtutum, et de virtute in virtutem docebat ascensum. Haec et cetera his similia, erant sancti viri sancta praedicatio. Hac disciplina gaudebat clerus, exultabat populus; his et hujusmodi sermonibus pollens sanctus Ollegarius sacrarum scripturarum fervens lectionibus, gloriosam vitam degebat.
