Bartomeu Catany

(c. 1380 – 1462). Franciscan friar. He founded Franciscan Observant convents in Sóller, Mahón and Palma de Mallorca, played an important role in the Revolta Forana (civil confrontations in Mallorca, 1450-3) and unified the scattered hospitals of Mallorca into a General Hospital.

A regular preacher in Mallorca, he also visited Barcelona between 1451 and 1454. His sermons are preserved in two manuscripts at the Archivo Público de Mallorca, ms. 25 and 26.
